 The Original Tour Van Minimize

We will once again be using Tour Director and SLT co-owner Roger Hill's touring van, described below. This workhorse is a 7.3 Liter displacement V8 355 horsepower power-stroke diesel engine with dual alternators and batteries. It has running boards for easy access to the van's interior. We also now have 2 fully customized Chevy Express 3500, 15 passenger vans in our armada. These vans are state of the art customized by Ultimate Electronics in Denver. They also have seat covers with pockets on the back for you to store any small personal items such as maps, books and such. They also have:
  • High-resolution flip-down LCD monitors in front and mounted from the ceiling. This will allow each person in the van to see a DVD or video as well as the data that we're examining on the onboard computer, including near real-time radar data.

  • Davis weather station installed and roof-mounted to continuously and accurately monitor external weather conditions.

  • CB-enabled Ham radio unit with multiple bands dedicated to continuous National Weather Service broadcasts.

  • Mobile threatnet full-time, near real-time XM-satellite driven NEXRAD radar system.

  • Broadband PC cards coupled to both external cellular antennae and an interior amplifier for maximum reception of the ever-improving wireless broadband signal offered through various cellular data providers.

  • Wireless LAN so that customers can watch what we are doing on their own laptops (if you choose to bring one).

  • Note: we have long since ditched the clunky internet satellite dish pictured here in favor of the much sleeker Baron Threatnet, a system that can be used in-motion.

  • We have also removed the forward center console in favor of a laptop table and housing that take up much less forward space.

  • The forward "bubble" encloses the DirecTV satellite dish that access and maintains satellite television coverage while stationary or mobile.
