THE TOUR PACKAGE INCLUDES HIGH-QUALITY HOTEL LODGING AND SNACKS!!

  1. All tours will begin and end at Will Rogers International Airport in Oklahoma City. Upon arrival at the airport, a hotel shuttle will transport you to your hotel in Oklahoma City.
    Try making online travel reservations
  2. Each of the four tours is 10 days in length. And we do mean 10. You are not being charged for the days used to travel to and from the base city. We require that all attendees arrive at the meeting city prior to 5pm the day BEFORE the first scheduled day of your tour. We also strongly suggest that you schedule your return flight to leave after 11 am the day AFTER your last tour day. This way, we will have some time to get acquainted prior to the tour, you will have some time cushion to allow for flight delays and we will maximize our driving range on the last day of your tour. Example: If you are scheduled for Tour 1 (dates May 9 to May 18), you would arrive at OKC Will Rogers Airport on May 8 sometime during the late afternoon or early evening. You would leave OKC on May 19 after 11 am local time. The second tour participants should arrive during the late afternoon or early evening of May 19.
  3. We will have an orientation the evening of your arrival. We will tantalize you with video footage of some of our previous storm chases as we go over important ground rules designed to make the tours a safer and more enjoyable experience. This evening orientation is also a great way to meet with others who share your fascination with severe weather.
  4. We will meet at a large Oklahoma City hotel (already chosen) on your arrival day. You will receive detailed logistics of your arrival day several weeks prior to the start of your tour.
  5. The tour costs $2400/person (but only $2300 per person if sharing a hotel room). This includes all expenses EXCEPT travel to and from the base city, food and incidentals. It also includes daily snacks and drinks! It includes, of course, ground transportation during the tour. We require a non-refundable deposit of $600.00 to reserve your slot payable by personal check, cashier's check, or money order. Another $600 is due by April 20, 2000. The balance of $1200 ($1100 per person for hotel room sharing participants) is due on your arrival day.
  6. We will travel in a 15-passenger van with a total of 6 passengers plus two guides up front. We will install a PA-system so that people throughout the van can clearly hear the guides when they speak.
  7. You should plan on bringing a large duffel-type suitcase as well as camcorders, cameras or laptop computers. Please DO NOT bring hard-shell suitcases! Pack ten days' worth of clothing. We will be staying at high-quality hotels (e.g., Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn, Days Inn, Best Western, Red Roof Inn), some of which have coin-operated washers and dryers. Pack for warm to hot and humid weather. Pack two pairs of jeans and long sleeve shirts. We will occasionally encounter cold weather.
  8. On days when there are no storms expected (we hope those are very few!), we will offer a few optional recreational activities. These will be weather-related whenever possible. Examples from last year: toured the Storm Prediction Center/National Severe Storms Lab. in Norman, OK; toured three National Weather Service Forecast offices; viewed severe tornado damage in Oklahoma; visited the Twister Museum in Wakita, OK. We have also visited Devil's Tower, Mount Rushmore, and the Badlands (I love South Dakota!).
  9. You will have the opportunity to learn about severe storms in terms you can understand.
  10. Each participant will receive a complete professional-quality video of the tour highlights from all three tours and a Silver Lining Tours t-shirt.
  11. PLEASE read the Frequently Asked Questions section of this web site for more information about our price structure, philosophy and more!
